The weekend after Cologne I went to the STATES!! To Hawaii, for one of my closest friend’s wedding.

OH BOY, the drama to deal with with Delta going TO Honolulu and BACK to Germany. Never travel with Delta.

TO HONOLULU: This was my flight path: Munich > Amsterdam > Los Angeles > Honolulu. I flew with KLM from Munich till Los Angeles. No problems whatsoever. Delta, on the other hand… It usually takes 5 hours to fly from Los Angeles to Honolulu. Two hours into the flight, the find out they did NOT do maintenance properly, so they had to turn the damn plane around and fly back to LAX. So what was supposed to be a 5 hour flight turned out to be 9 hours. Put that on top of the 16 hour flight from Europe to America… not a very happy Anela. ALTHOUGH… I think during this whole trip I saw nothing but daylight. So I experienced about 21 hours of the sun. It was really surreal!

FROM HONOLULU: This was my flight path back to Germany: Honolulu > Los Angeles > Minneapolis > Amsterdam > Munich. This one was a doozy. The flight from Honolulu to Minneapolis was okay. Except for the 9 hour layover in Minneapolis, but whatever, we all have to deal with that. This flight from Minneapolis to Amsterdam was the last flight o the day. And then what happens? The flap of the wing will not function correctly. So, I had to spend a night in Minneapolis, which I didn’t mind. Malfunctions occur. On top of that, I was able to explore Minneapolis a bit! :D

HOWEVER, when it was time to fly to Amsterdam (which, btw, was the last flight of the day) it turns out Delta OVERBOOKED the flight, which meant I had to stay another night in Minneapolis. How do you mess that one up?! Between not doing proper maintenance checks and overbooking, I raged at them like you wouldnt believe.

Moral of the story: don’t fly with Delta. They cant get their shit straight.
